Small Fee Increases Healthy Change, Not Far Enough

President of the Otago University Students' Association, Steve Day, was pleased to see Otago University proposing substantially smaller fee increases than had previously been suggested this year.

“While any fee increases will be detrimental to the ability of students to attend University and to the well being of our country is pleasing to see this change in direction from our Council. This follows on from many of next year’s potential governing political parties adopting more favourable tertiary policy over the last couple of weeks than they had earlier intimated. We hope that this change in direction will continue and the students can eventually look forward to an environment when we can positively discuss the potential of barrier free education.”
