New medical co-ordinator has the skills and the ethics

Jon Cadwallader has been appointed medical co-ordinator at Auckland's Mercy Hospital, where he will be responsible for interfacing with medical practitioners.

A urological specialist, Mr Cadwaller is also an Honorary Lecturer at the Auckland Medical School and an Examiner of the Australasian College of Surgeons. He is a former Medical Director of Auckland Adventist Hospital. He received specialist training at Auckland Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital in London. He has experience at New Zealand's leading public and private hospitals, and has lectured at the University of London.

Mercy Hospital Chief Executive Tony Duncan says that Mr Cadwallader has the skills, experience and personal qualities to maintain Mercy's position as a leader of private health care. "He enjoys the respect of his peers and understands the complexities of medical management. He is also familiar with our values and ethical principles, which allows him to manage both a best practice medical service and meet Mercy's social responsibilities."

Mr Cadwallader is also a founding director of Mobile Medical Technology, an innovative service conducting mobile kidney stone treatments throughout New Zealand and is investigating bringing mobile surgical services to rural communities.
