No Place For Bullying And Intimidation

“No Place For Bullying And Intimidation In Health Service”

“There is absolutely no place for bullying and intimidation in the health service,” said Mr Ian Powell, Executive Director of the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists, today. Mr Powell was commenting on concerns raised by the Association over the attempts of the Auckland District Health Board to punish senior doctors for speaking publicly over their concerns about patient safety and standards of care.

“Regrettably there is a culture of autocracy and domination among senior management at the Auckland District Health Board from which bullying and intimidation inevitably follows.”

“In addition to persecuting employees, bullying and intimidation also seriously threatens patient safety and standards of care for patients,” concluded Mr Powell.
