Aged Care Funding Crisis Deepens

"Make no mistake; there is a direct correlation between this Governments mean spirited 1% funding offer and the Salvation Army being forced out of residential care for the elderly".

"The Salvation Army have been providing care for over 70 years, and it is a sad day for residents, employees and providers when we see such a well respected career being forced from the rest home sector" said Martin Taylor CEO of Residential Care NZ.

"The question you have to ask is, what does this say about the values of a Labour government that would let this situation happen", said Simon O'Dowd President of Residential Care NZ.

This is further evidence that Ministers need to agree to the Provider Representatives Coalition's counter offer of a one off 3% (to address this year’s inflation) and agree to sit down and establish a sustainable funding formula for the future.

"We just want the government to play fair and show leadership" said Simon O'Dowd President of Residential care NZ.
