NZ LAC 15th Anniversary International Conference

NZ LAC 15th Anniversary International Conference

New Zealand Lactation Consultants Association 15th Anniversary International Conference gets underway tomorrow.

It's an international conference featuring guests speakers from Australia and America.
Speakers include: Nancy Wight, Paula Meier, Sue Cox, Ros Escott, Karleen Gribble, Lauren Porter, Cheryl Benn and Carol Bartle. There will be around 130 people attending from around the world.

The 2006 NZLCA 15th Anniversary International Conference programme aims to:

- Promote breastfeeding as the norm
- Provide a forum for the presentation of the latest research in human lactation across the spectrum from pre-term to weaning
- Increase health professionals’ knowledge and skills in supporting women in complex breastfeeding situations
- Identify local, national, international and global health strategies which enable women to initiate and maintain breastfeeding
- Facilitate networking between lactation professionals, breastfeeding counsellors and other supporters of breastfeeding
- Stimulate discussion on Donor Milk Banking in New Zealand
- Encourage initiatives to enhance Baby Friendly Maternity and Neonatal Units.

This comes on the back of recent figures showing an increase in the number of babies in NZ being fed exclusively breastmilk, and for a longer period. That release is attached here too for your reference.

Millennium Hotel, Cathedral Square, Christchurch, NZ
12th - 14th May 2006

This conference is for:
