How do I get 5 + servings of Fruit and vegetables a day?

To celebrate 5 + a day month (November), the Nutrition and Physical Activity team at the Health Promotion Unit will be demonstrating how to get 5 + servings of fruit and vegetables in to your diet in simple, interesting and creative ways.

Kabbages fruit and vegetable shop in Devon Road, Bell Block will be hosting the demonstrations on Tuesday 13th and Monday 26th November from 2-4pm. Come and taste and receive new ideas for you and your family on novel ways with fruit and vegetables.

The theme of this years 5 + a day month is “5 + a day - The colour Way” and this will be the focus of the demonstrations by incorporating all the different coloured fruits and vegetables in to easy to make recipes.

“It is important for maintenance of health and energy to ensure that you get at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables per day” says Anita Waugh, Taranaki DHB Public Health Nutritionist.

“These practical demonstrations will be of interested to everyone and will be a great opportunity to taste a variety of new vegetables and fruits”.


The demonstrations are an initiative as part of the Bell Block Community Action project, which aims to improve the nutrition and physical activity of the Bell Block Community.
