Collectors hitting the streets in Christchurch

PRESS RELEASE 18th JANUARY 2008

Collectors hitting the streets in Christchurch

Keep an eye out for Fanuary collectors on the streets of Christchurch tonight and tomorrow night collecting for a very worthy cause.

All money raised during Fanuary will be donated to Women for Women charitable trust and used for education, awareness and financial support for women dealing with gynecological cancers.

Organiser Rebecca Harris from myjobspace.co.nz says “Keep an eye out for our collectors who will be wearing bright yellow t-shirts and carrying round buckets with id badges so you know they are the real thing.”

The collectors are expected to be around The Strip, His Lordship’s Lane, Colombo Street and Manchester Street.

The total amount of donations received from Friday’s collection will be posted on the site on Saturday and Saturday night’s collection total will be available on Sunday.

“We are encouraging everyone to dig deep into the wallets and donate to this worthy cause,” Rebecca says. “We are happy to receive donations via the website, which updates our total regularly, but not everyone has access to PayPal or the internet, so this is just another way we thought we could raise funds.

“It’ll all be happening in Christchurch this weekend, with a lot of visitors to town at the moment because of the buskers festival, it’s a fantastic opportunity to make even more people aware of our cause and the reason for this fundraising campaign.”

She also wants to remind everyone WEAR PINK MUFFTY DAY is on the way. “We’re promoting Friday 25th January as WEAR SOMETHING PINK DAY. We’re hoping this will help in the awareness and collecting online donations.”
