PSA Negotiates Settlement for Nurses

PSA MEDIA RELEASE
May 4, 2008

PSA Negotiates Settlement for Mental Health and Public Health Nurses

A PSA-led negotiating team has reached a settlement in collective agreement negotiations covering 2400 mental health and public health nurses.

The nurses are employed by the country’s 21 district health boards.

“Our negotiating team believes this is a good settlement,” says PSA National Secretary Richard Wagstaff. “They’ll be recommending that nurses who belong to the PSA ratify the settlement.”

The PSA is not releasing details of the settlement until the nurses have been fully briefed by the union and a ratification vote has been held.

The negotiations began nine months ago and involved a problem-solving approach to bargaining.
