Press Release

Te Puna Hauora 10th Anniversary to be celebrated in style

An event bringing together people who have worked in the community for the past decade to celebrate Te Puna Hauora’s successes is planned.

Te Puna Hauora is celebrating 10 years working with high-needs communities within the North Shore region and will be holding a special celebration for invited guests on the 2nd of August 2008.

North Shore City, 22 July, 2008 | Te Puna Hauora is an integral part of the community with three bustling clinics in the heart of North Shore City and serves more than twelve thousand people with high quality, low cost medical and social services. This all seemed a distant dream when Te Puna Hauora was first established in humble beginnings on land leased from Awataha Marae in 1997.

An evening of celebration has been planned to commemorate the achievements of the past 10 years. In particular, it will be a chance to honour the longer-serving members of staff who have worked within Te Puna Hauora since the beginning. Lvyia Marsden, Grietta Felise and Dr Joanna Hopkins will be honoured for their contributions and service to the organisation and the community since the beginning.

“We are looking forward to celebrating the achievements of the organization and its important contribution to the wider community”, says General Manager, John Marsden QSO. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to thank so many people who have worked so hard to achieve this success”.

Since this time, the services have grown considerably with two clinics in Northcote and one in Birkdale. A range of services are on offer including physiotherapists, mobile nursing, and Well Child services. In addition, a comprehensive range of community services are in place to assist people and their whanau with a range of social issues. These services include parenting programmes, community support workers, budgeting services and mental health teams.

“Many people have contributed to this organization over a long period of time”, notes John. “There has been a considerable amount of hard work to build these facilities and develop the services we can now offer from many. These people are really passionate about helping underprivileged and minority groups within our community.”

Te Puna Hauora operates a holistic, wrap-around service that incorporates all health and social services people need to get well and stay well. All services are offered free or at low-cost to ensure access for everyone. The ever-increasing client base is a testament to the success of the professional care taken by the staff.
