21 DHBs - statement of reasonable GP fee increases
21 District Health Boards
Media Release
2 June 2009
These comments can be attributed to Craig Climo, Lead CEO for Primary Care (and CEO of Waikato District Health Board):
The 2009/10 update of the annual statement of reasonable GP fee increases has been released.
Primary Health Organisations (PHOs) and their practices use the annual statement to assess whether their proposed fee increases to the patient co-payment are considered ‘reasonable’ by their District Health Board (DHB).
The recommended annual statement of reasonable patient co-payment GP fee increase for 2009/10 is 6.5 per cent, based on a 50/50 capitation/co-payment split.
This reflects movement in the cost price indices, as reported by Statistics New Zealand for the March 2009 quarter, and the advised Future Funding Track (FFT) rate for 2009/10.
The annual statement takes effect from 1 July 2009 after a period of consultation with PHOs and others. A copy of the document is available from www.dhbnz.org.nz under the heading ‘Primary Care Fees Framework’ in the lefthand column.
