Wellington loses "windy city" title

Wellington loses "windy city" title

Media Release
27 September 2009

Results of a recent Omnibus survey by the manufacturers of kiwi fruit-based bowel health enhancer Phloe®, conclude that Gisborne is the new title-holder of the windiest city. Wellington may have a reputation for frequent wind gusts but those gusts of a more bodily nature happen more often to those living in Gisborne than anywhere else in the country with 71% letting themselves go 3 to 4 times a day!

Whilst the reasons for this amazing statistic have not been uncovered, we could speculate that perhaps people in Gisborne are just more relaxed than anywhere else, perhaps they spend more time outside and therefore have fewer inhibitions or maybe there’s a certain pride associated with “letting your wind blow free” in Gisborne.

The most retentive folk among us live in Whangarei and Timaru, with those in Timaru having such a low rate of flatulence that the respondents from that neck of the woods were either having a giggle, in complete denial, or are totally in charge of their bodily functions! How would you be so totally in charge? Some of the key ingredients to healthy bowel function are eating well, exercising, avoiding stress, and if you fall a little short on these, a daily dose of Phloe®.

Phloe® is a totally kiwi product, made from the ugly little wonder fruit – kiwifruit. Phloe® is clinically shown to keep you regular while supporting an efficient and settled bowel function, which helps to eliminate toxins. Not only will you feel better, any embarrassing by-products of unhealthy bowel function will be a thing of the past.

It is estimated that one in four people have frequent problems with their gastrointestinal system. Symptoms include flatulence, heartburn, bloating, diarrhoea and/or constipation. The survey showed that up to 65% of all women suffer from constipation at least 2-3 times a year. Phloe®can help reduce symptoms associated with constipation as well as assist with gut motility which can slow as we age.

If you’re like 67% of men and a startling 75% of women you’ll experience diarrhoea at least 2-3 times a year. In clinical studies, Phloe® has helped decrease diarrhoea and improve overall bowel function. This may be of particular significance to sufferers of IBS. Phloe®’s triple action allows your body to regulate naturally.

• The enzymes stimulate very gentle motility (or movement) of waste material through your digestive tract.
• Fibre bulks to stool with moisture improving transit time through the bowel
• Prebiotics support the long term, proper functioning of your digestive system. They provide food for the good bacteria in the digestive tract to grow which helps restore the balance of gut micro flora and helps protect the digestive wall so it can work normally.

The Omnibus Survey was conducted by TNS Global in November 2008
There were 1000 respondents, 480 men, 520 women.
All respondents were selected in order to get a representative cross-section of the NZ population.
