Much Needed Aged Care Offering For Christchurch Opens

Cashmere View village apartments and hospital wing were officially opened yesterday by Roger Sutton and Sam Johnson in a public ceremony. The celebration was attended by community groups, residents and relatives plus representatives of the Christchurch District Health Board.

The afternoon included an official Maori welcome by Ngati Porou group and ribbon cutting by Roger Sutton and Sam Johnson.

The $13.5m investment brings 20 additional hospital beds plus the development of a retirement village apartment complex consisting of 27 apartments and community lounge. Both located on the existing grounds are surrounded by picturesque gardens providing outdoor areas for residents to enjoy including dedicated BBQ deck overlooking Rose Street.

Providing hospital care to older people in the community is a specialty of Bupa Care Services with 45 rest homes and hospitals nationwide including five nearby; Bethesda, Parklands, Maidstone, Parkwood and St Nocolas.

"Bupa are committed to aged care in New Zealand and are delighted at the opportunity to expand our care offering in Christchurch" said Dwayne Crombie, CEO Bupa Care Services.

Bupa Care Services New Zealand is part of the Bupa Group, a leading international healthcare company. Established in New Zealand in 1991, Bupa has three aged care businesses; rest homes and hospitals; retirement villages and personal medical alarms, looking after more than 17,000 New Zealanders.

Bupa has no shareholders therefore it reinvests its money to provide better healthcare for its customers.
