Charity walkers find all kinds of support with SKINS

32 days of walking, 1014km to cover. When Sally Blackler and Natasha Donaldson decide to go for a walk, they don‘t mess about.

The pair, calling themselves Sisters in Arms, is walking from Auckland to Christchurch to raise funds for CanTeen, setting out this Friday, March 23 from CanTeen HQ in Grafton Rd, Auckland. The walk repeats a similar fundraising feat undertaken by Sally’s husband Nathan Blackler in 2004. Nathan has since passed away from cancer.

The women, who will be wearing SKINS compression tights and long-sleeve tops on their epic walk, are on a schedule of five days walking followed by one day off. The walk is expected to take 40 days with about 30km being covered every walking day – that’s three-quarters of a marathon every day.

The Sisters in Arms hope to raise $65,000 for CanTeen – the same amount Nathan Blackler raised on his walk eight years ago.
