New General Manager Of NZ College Of Public Health Medicine Appointed

The New Zealand College of Public Health Medicine is pleased to announce the appointment of Leanne Dawson as the incoming General Manager for the College.

Leanne has extensive leadership experience, including in the public health sector. Her most recent position is as Manager, Community Wellbeing and Harm Reduction in Te Whatu Ora’s Commissioning team, where she has led design and investment of funding into services that prioritise equity, embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and respond to the complex realities of whānau and communities. Previous roles have included Manager, Service Delivery in Te Whatu Ora’s National Public Health Service, and Chief Executive Officer of Space NZ Trust. Leanne holds postgraduate studies in Public Health, Systems Thinking, and an Executive MBA.

College President Sir Collin Tukuitonga says, “Leanne’s breadth of experience, skills and understanding of the issues facing the public health sector in New Zealand will position her well to lead the College in the period ahead.

“We are delighted to welcome Leanne to the role and look forward to working with her to progress the College’s goals.”

Leanne will take up the role on 1 September 2025.
