Ellis Vows to Continue The Fight

Ellis Vows to Continue The Fight

Convicted child molester Peter Ellis said he would continue attempts to clear his name on his release from prison today.

Speaking to around 25 media at a press conference this afternoon, Ellis made a public statement thanking supporters for their ongoing efforts to overturn his criminal conviction for sexual abuse.

He said he would continue to fight for his innocence regarding the abuse which had “never happened.” Ellis also thanked fellow prison inmates for “accepting me as a person” while in jail.

Ellis was convicted in 1993 on 16 charges of sexually abusing children in his care at Christchurch’s Civic Creche and has since then continuously protested his innocence. The charges initially contained allegations of satanic abuse, but these, along with alleged charges against three other female creche workers, were later dropped by police.

Ellis has failed to have these convictions overturned despite two applications to the Governer-general and a second hearing in the Court of Appeal.

His mother Lesley Ellis says her son will live with her while he continues his legal battle.
