Who’d You Rather Work For, Soldiers?

- The Minister of Defence Mark Burton [1] has confirmed that a third rotation of New Zealand Defence Force personnel will serve under the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor, while the Prime Minister admitted yesterday that our soldiers were underpaid. ( See also … What's next - soldiers on strike? [2] - National) Miss Clark said our soldiers, who are rumoured to have been considering joining the better paid Australian Army, have a right to be unhappy, and said the Government is looking into pay and conditions. Meanwhile the Australian Government is looking into purchasing the same ASLAV vehicles [3] the New Zealand Government has bought. They have also had trouble holding on to their computers [4] .
