Sludge Report #43

Scenario YUUUUCCCKKKK!!!

By now you have probably heard that the courts have given the Florida Count to Bush (prior to the next wave of litigation, anyway).

Check out this scenario, which looks pretty likely:

If one rep from the Senate and one from the House decide to challenge the results of any State's electoral decision, then it is deemed that there should be a debate of at least 2 hours in the House and the Senate.

This is followed by a vote. If either the House OR the Senate finds against the decision, then that State's electoral college votes are tossed out.

The Senate is currently tied 50/50, and so if they all vote along party lines (and they will!) then the casting vote goes to the Speaker of the Senate, who is the incumbent Vice President.

And Yesiree Bob, that's Al Gore.
