Vertical Limit Pipped For Box Office Top Placing

Latest box office figures from the US show the New Zealand-made film Vertical Limit has just been pipped at the post for first place by Dr Seuss, How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

The latest figures are taken from Friday to Sunday. On Friday, Vertical Limit led Grinch in gross receipts.

Grinch, which has been screening for 4 weeks grossed $18.5 million at 3,186 theatres, while Vertical Limit, screening for just one week, grossed $16 million at 2,307 theatres.

Vertical Limit was filmed entirely on location in the Southern Alps particularly around Aorangi/Mt Cook.

Vertical Limit is beating films like Proof of Life, (3rd) Unbreakable, (4th) Dungeons and Dragons, (5th) 102 Dalmations (6th) Rugrats in Paris (7th) Meet the Parents (8th) Chalies's Angels (9th) and Bounce ( 10th).
