BRRrrrrrrr now that’s cold….USA New Year’s Day

This week’s devastating Christmas snow storms in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, not to mention most of the rest of the USA look set to be just a foretaste of one of the coldest holiday seasons ever in the US as a whole.

According to the NOAA supercomputer New Year is looking remarkably chilly too with temperatures in Northern Florida down to freezing and well below that everywhere else.

And if the NOAA supercomputer remains as accurate as it has been so far (i.e. very accurate) then the big chill is set to last through to the second week of January. The following are links to maps of the temperature gradient across the Eastern Seaboard of the US from December 9th through to January 8th when another cold blast looks to be headed south from the Arctic – destination New York City.

PLEASE NOTE: Supercomputer forecasts are not usually particularly accurate for more than five or six days in the future. Which means that it could be either colder or warmer than the following maps show.
