Peters Details His Three Post-Election Options

Mallard Hints At Student Loan Tweaking

- Kevin List reports that before the Prime Minister took any questions at yesterdays post cabinet press conference, Education Minister Trevor Mallard, found time to attack Bill English’s latest press statement and hint at impending changes regarding student loan repayments. The prospect of changes surrounding the student loan scheme was also hinted at by Mr Mallard. These changes would be aimed at reducing the amount of time it takes to pay back a student loan. See... Scoop Link: Journalist In Iraq Killed For Damning Expose

- BAGHDAD, Iraq - Yasser Salihee, an Iraqi special correspondent for Knight Ridder, was shot to death in Baghdad last Friday. The shot appears to have been fired by a U.S. military sniper, though there were Iraqi soldiers in the area who also may have been shooting at the time. Salihee, 30, had the day off and was driving alone near his home in the western Baghdad neighborhood of Amariyah when a single bullet pierced his windshield and then his skull. He was shot as his car neared a joint patrol of American and Iraqi troops who'd stopped to search a building for snipers. American and Iraqi soldiers are frequently targeted by suicide car bombers. - The National Party today launched three new internet initiatives as it continues to ramp up for the upcoming election campaign. National TV at http://www.nationaltv.org.nz is a streaming web channel which can be used by voters to view National Party programmes, commercials and video speeches.
