Huge Crowds Turn Out To Protest Howard's Industrial Reforms

Indymedia Image Melbourne - Indymedia [1] has estimated more than 150 000 people demonstrated today in Melbourne against the Howard Federal Government's proposed industrial relations reforms. The massive crowd stretched from Melbourne's Federation Square up to Carlton Gardens. Rallies also took place across Australia where people attended in unprecedented numbers. The rallies are part of a broader campaign to oppose the employer led efforts to reduce wages and working conditions by undermining collective bargaining, and deregulating the labour market.     Phar Lap Memorabilia Goes Under The Hammer In London

    - Prized memorabilia of former NZ equine star Phar Lap goes under the hammer in London tonight. The legend of Phar Lap is well know to racing enthusiasts the world over but very little memorabilia has found its way to the UK over the years and opportunities to purchase mementoes have been scarce. A number of rare and priceless auction items will come under the hammer at an auction by Sotheby’s, in association with Graham Budd Auctions, on November 16.     Annan condemns suicide bombings against international forces in Afghanistan

    - Reacting with concern to the upsurge in violence in Afghanistan, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan strongly condemned the suicide bombing attacks carried out against the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Kabul today.
