Scoop News: Police Retrieval Of Two Bodies From Air-Crash Hampered By Terrain

Pukenui Forest, Whangarei - The retrieval of two bodies of the men killed in an air-crash near Whangarei is being hampered by difficult terrain at the crash site.

Search controller Sergeant Cliff Metcalfe of Whangarei Police said earlier today that Search And Rescue teams and the Westpac Helicopter would attempt to lift the bodies of Peter Beatty (49) and Greg Nash (56) out of the dense bush at around lunchtime.

However Police say a thorough assessment of the crash site has revealed that retrieval of the bodies and the destroyed Fletcher Turbo aircraft will be more complicated than originally thought.

More equipment is being flown in to Pukenui Forest, Whangarei. Police say retrieval of the bodies is expected later today.

Police say the Fletcher Turbo aircraft crashed late on Tuesday night. Air accident inspectors are at the scene.
