Scoop In London: NZ Memorial Heralds ANZAC Spirit In London

Defence Photo Essay - The unveiling of the New Zealand Memorial in London's Hyde Park provided the chance for Kiwi ex-pats to wander along and show their respects to the veterans that had made the trip over and, also to pay their respects to those that have fallen in battle. While Scoop was busy getting the vibe from the ex-pat Kiwi community the official New Zealand Defence Force photographer Rachel Main had what many English Paparazzi can only dream about – the chance to snap the entire Royal family at the unveiling of the New Zealand Memorial.     Health News: PHARMAC Under-Provides Needy By $19.4 Million

    PHARMAC's announcement this week of a $19.4 million budget under spend for 2006 has elicited cries of disbelief and anger from MPs, doctors and breast cancer groups alike. This continues a five year trend of budgetary under spending by PHARMAC that National MP Jackie Blue estimates now totals $73 million. The Breast Cancer Aotearoa Coalition (BCAC) was outraged by the result which PHARMAC's Acting Chief Executive Matthew Brougham described as 'excellent'. See...     Pacific News: EU Korea Russia Block Pacific High Seas Talks

    Fisheries talks in Hobart ended a step closer to managing fishing in the South Pacific high seas, but proposed interim fisheries and environmental measures were blocked by Northern Hemisphere fishing nations,” says Fisheries Minister Jim Anderton. “New Zealand is very pleased with the progress that’s been made towards establishing a regional fisheries management organisation for non-highly migratory fish stocks in the South Pacific,” Jim Anderton says.     Retirement: New Seniors Card Absolutely Super, Says Govt

    The Supergold Card unveiled this weekend recognises the huge contribution that senior citizens have made, and continue to make, to New Zealand. The credit-card sized Card will be in the purses and wallets of people aged 65 plus in August next year. It will provide tangible benefits to cardholders by providing easy access to government concessions as well as meaningful discounts across a range of commercial services and products. See...
