Nepal: Latest Slogan By Leftists– 'Anti Moriarty'

Latest Slogan By Leftists– 'Anti Moriarty'

Dr. Chandrakala

They say 'longer you live, the more you see', may be a variation on the three monkeys. One would have thought people's polls would now of all times have some impact, but on the day people voted 64 percent for King to be Head of State, the Seven-Party Alliance and Maoists in their great wisdom decided not to specify who is the Head of the State of this country.

If you want to get rid of Monarchy, which you plan to do through Constituent Assembly anyway, go ahead and do it now, why the subterfuge. The Nepalese do or don't want to take a decision in haste and regret it in leisure. That is the crux. On one side, the momentum against Monarchy has to be capitalized immediately and on the other side, let the people get used to a redundant Monarch and his absence won't be noted. And a fashionably political friend of mine told me: we have already wasted time and people are seeing through our cracks, so do it as soon as possible or let us get our act together and give the people a better deal and we will confront them with a better alternative. We have to decide now, no time to be wasted. But old man Girija Prasad Koirala and the South want Shailaja Acharya, a former Deputy Prime Minister to come down to the level of Bindeswori Shah for reasons best known to them and NC, NC-D and UML share the spoils of Ambassadorships and now what can one say or do. We always shoot at our own feet.

Because of this nonsense above, Moriarty has now become the victim of sloganeering. 'Moriarty Murdabad'! (Murdabad is "become a corpse".) 'Moriarty go back'. I was going around walking on the main roads on Tuesday, since those were devoid of vehicles and I heard a group shouting and I thought that should be the usual chants against the King or the SPA, but it was against Moriarty. And this friend of mine, who was walking with me, told me that I should have heard the chants after Moriarty left Sindhuli for Kathmandu in his helicopter. I personally thought of Bloomfield, that itinerant meddler who left a bad name for British diplomacy in Nepal. "Even the shadow of what once was great is passing away." Shakespeare?

But I feel for Moriarty, the physically fit, and hard working American Diplomat, who has learnt the Nepalese language as well. But learning a language, (that also khas kura), is far different from understanding which is a life time pursuit. His heart is in the right place, but why do people compare him with Douglas Heck, one wonders. Anyway, we are all behind you, when you say 'no sleeping with the enemy' and 'no truck with the terrorists'.

Congratulations are due to Lalu Prasad Yadav & Rabri Devi. They say the cattle were called as witnesses in the fodder scam judicial case. They got acquitted. Well done! You've shown the light. We will follow. That's how the largest democracy in the world operates, and who are we, mountain goats, to sit on judgment.

Finally, the lines are drawn. The Maoists have clearly said withdraw your recommendations for Ambassadorships and reestablishment of Police Posts in earlier abandoned areas. Otherwise, no New Year celebrations for you guys, the imperialists, the expansionists and the U.N. I would be missing the turkey and (probably even) Santa Claus, as I had been kindly invited for New Year's Party by a kind expatriate.

I hope he can't connect this writing with me. Otherwise, he might roast me instead of marshmallows!

Ambassadorial postings – two at a time (correct me if I am wrong).

Congratulations Guna Laxmi! The third Nepalese lady Ambassador (proposed). How much would the Department of Health miss you? You would be following the footsteps of :

Mr. Bharat Raj Rajbhandari
Mr. Khadga Jit Baral
Mr. Shardul SJB Rana
Mr. Thakkan Mullick
Mr. Gopal Acharya
Gen. (Retd.) Sachit SJB Rana, and
Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Victory Shumsher Rana

Congragulations Dr. Madan Bhattarai for retaining your posts, possibly, as long a your predecessors:

Sardar Bhim Bahadur Pande
Mr. Pradhumna Lal Rajbhandari
Sardar Ishwari Man Shrestha
Mr. Ramhari Sharma
Gen.(Retd.) Singha Pratap Shah
Mr. Gopal Prasad Shah,
Mr. Nabal Kishore Rai, and
Mr. Balaram Singh Malla

Congratulations Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister for taking a stand!

Keep yourselves warm, it is getting cold. I am worried about the young people, the Maoists, in different cold camps!
