Fashion Week: Jaeha For Strong Real Life Women

Fashionz.co.nz: Jaeha For Strong Real Life Women

“Jaeha is for women who are strong in real life and who admire a quirk factor” writes Jaeha-Alex Kim of his label. Well, after his debut as part of the “Hot Set” group show I suspect there will be a lot of women, and not a few of them high profile fashion types, crying “that’s me!”

At first look the “Zip Me Up After You’re Finished”, Edward Scissorhands-referencing range is almost scarily avant-garde (you know, the type of show where the models wear stockings over their hair) but don’t be frightened – just a few outfits into the show, out popped a gorgeous crimplene-look black dress, drawn in at the front with cords, and you go “cool! I would wear that!”

Cute scissorhand graphics on tees provide an easy funk factor and the coolest super-long baguette bag is dynamite on the runway – a big horizontal against all those tall leggy verticals wearing the clothes. Layering is exaggerated and used on virtually every outfit.

Jaeha’s jeans are grey and skinny, back yoke and pockets very low – they look hot tucked into thigh high boots and would provide a great alternative to leggings for that layering.

But least the audience think he can only work in tough fabrics the last part of the show presents the same innovative and intricate layering in fine royal chiffon. Sheesh, the guy can even do pretty.
