Fashion Week: Trelise Cooper Kids
Fashionz.co.nz: Trelise Cooper Kids
This is one show that even the most jaded of fashion week journalists can smile at – in fact, laughter and “oohs” of delight were louder than Coopers’ chosen soundtrack.
As the tiara wearing, pint sized (mostly under age 5) models skipped, dawdled or strode the catwalk they put on an absolutely delightful show and both the crowd and the photographers simply lapped it up, with one in particular spending so much time waving I wonder if he captured any images at all.
In the words of the woman behind me “This is one show where the models are more important than the clothes”.
Well, maybe – but I like to think that in her kids range Trelise lets all of her fantasies run wild. She referenced widely from '60s psychedelia with wildly printed velvet and spacey silver through to renaissance ruffles – with a touch of leopard print in between.
I particularly loved the “poodle coat” which in case you missed it, had a poodle appliquéd on it. As you would expect, there was much use of tulle, bows and bells – the stuff of every little girl (and her mummy’s) dreams.
