1220 - Counterclockwise

The team at scoop do such a good job on the nets and on our station that we've decided to reward them by bumping them up to pride of place on today's wire. Yup, at 1220 Selwyn Manning will be on the line for counterclockwise to commiserate the 5th anniversary of the Iraq invasion and fill you in on how you the listener can voice your discontent should you have some.

1240 - AgResearch Chief Exec. Andrew West

Then at 1240, I'll be speaking to (above) about the government's new fast forward fund. The $700 million boost for agricultural science apparently has the industry in ecstasy, but Andrew has warned that a lot of people will be after a slice of the pie and tensions are sure to arise between government and industry about what the government expects and what the industry actually wants to spend the money on.

1300 - Bishop Pat Dunn on 7 new modern sins

At one o'clock I'll be joined on the line by Auckland's Catholic Bishop Pat Dunn. You'd have had to be living under a heathen's rock to have missed the Vatican's announcement of 7 new deadly sins. They're an attempt to make believers feel a little more guilty and drive them back into the confessional. But lots and lots of people are pointing out the hypocrisy evident in the list � with the Church itself perhaps staring down the barrel of eternal damnation. We'll be going over these evils with Bishop Pat and asking him why the Church feels the need to spell out what's right and what's wrong.

1320 - Transport Safety Minister Harry Duynhoven

Transport Safety Minister Harry Duynhoven will be on the line at one twenty to have a chat about the renewed debate around the use of cell phones when driving. Other countries have made it against the law, and following the deaths of two people in Ashburton last week caused by some drinking and driving and texting, many are asking why don't we follow suit?

1340 - Armageddon with Canterbury University astronomer Associate Professor Peter Cottrell

And to finish the show I'll be speaking with (above) about the end of the world. An astronomer in Sydney has been observing a star called WR104 which is nearly ready to explode and die. Problem is, when that happens, a gamma ray blast is fired in the direction of its pole axis across the universe. Extra problem is, WR104's pole is pointed almost squarely at a little planet we know as Earth. Might be time to repent not putting out the recycling after all!
