About 40 Telecom lines engineers protested this lunchtime in Wellington at Lambton Quay against Telecom’s attacks on their incomes and employment rights. This strike action is within the framework of a nationwide action.

“The one day strike coincides with the first day of operation by Telecom Australian contractor Visionstream who are trying to force workers into dependent contracting arrangements – a move that would cost workers a substantial part of their income and leave them with no employment rights” the Engineering Printing and Manufacturing Union said.
