Asking for the Revolutionary Change
Asking for the Revolutionary Change
By Syed Atiq ul Hassan, Sydney, AustraliaCurrent form of democracy and the government in Pakistan would not deliver anything to the country except further disaster…. these political comedians have made a country joke…. and if anything could save Pakistan and free the nation from looters is a benevolent army dictatorship, these were the conclusive views of well-known Pakistani political analyst & a writer Mr. Hassan Nisar and a senior technocrat Dr. Mubashir Hassan, in a famous GEO TV Show ‘Meray Mutabiq’ of Dr. Shahid Masood. I agree with the views of Mr. Nisar Hassan and Dr. Mubashir Hassan.
Democracy is a beautiful word; it delivers equal opportunities, freedom of speech, rule of law, justice and maintains a civilised society, yet implementation of democracy is a process and it requires prerequisites. Democracy cannot be implemented in a society where the power of the state is confined with the corrupt and incapable so-called political leaders. Unfortunately, since the departure of General Pervez Musharraf, on the name of civil rule, Pakistan has been controlled by those history-sheeters who have looted country’s wealth time & again in the past, who hold dual nationalities and maintain millions of dollars in their foreign accounts. These corrupt political pundits are now securing their power by bringing their followers, partners and relatives in the government machinery. The people who possess fake degrees are given ministries. The corruption has spread up almost in every department of the government. Few hundred people, some in the government and some in the opposition waiting for their turn, have put the country on the verge of collapsing. On the top of that, the most fateful dilemma is that this ruling-class has strong links in the Western capitals. For the Western powers particularly UK and USA these political actors very well fit to sever their agenda and interest that is why they are enjoying the support of Washington and London.
On the other hand people are now coming on the
streets crying for food, jobs, water, power, gas, peace and
security. In the last two years or so, the leaders of the
ruling and largest opposition parties delivered nothing to
the nation except constitutional amendments, inquiry of
Benazir murder, creating of new provinces etc which cannot
provide 3 times meals, enough & clean water to drink and 24
hours electricity and security of the lives to the Pakistani
nation. These political actors appear on most of the
Pakistani satellite channels in various political debates
and break their own records of false promises and deceitful
claims.
The so-called political pundits cum feudal lords slam on dictators but fact of matter is that they are found to be the biggest despots. They have monarchy system in their political parities. They could not implement fair and fine democratic system within their own parties how can they deliver fair democracy to the country.
Now this is the time, the people of Pakistan have to decide do they still need this kind of democracy which has been imposed in the country to serve the agenda of Western powers and which is now dragging the country into the 1971’s situation (when Pakistan lost its half part of East Pakistan and became Bangladesh) or the people need a powerful leader who can put all these corrupt people behind the bars and work for the betterment of Pakistani nation and sovereignty of the country.
Pakistan and its nation need security, economic prosperity and opportunities for common people. It should not be a matter even it would come through a dictator. The most important thing for Pakistan and the people of Pakistan is the stability and integrity of Pakistan not the disabled system of so-called democratic system.
Last two years ground realities of Pakistan illustrate that the situation of economy, prices of goods, security, law & order, foreign debts, currency value were far better than today. It was an army dictator, Pervez Musharraf, who opened the way for political leaders and then Benazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari, Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif returned to Pakistan. It was Pervez Musharraf and his team who brought revolution in electronic media and delivered the freedom to all satellite channels. If these political actors, today, appear on satellite channels enjoying Musharraf’ gift of free media and condemning Musharraf then they should also be thankful to Musharraf for welcoming them in Pakistan, allow them to contest in elections and handover power to them happily. However, the fact of the matter is that by using the threat to the state’s sovereignty the super powers compelled Musharraf to make free way for these political actors to achieve their goals on the cost of disintegration of the State and the Nation. Pervez Musharraf must be realising now what mistakes he has made.
President Musharraf in his recent given interview to a Pakistani satellite TV said that he wanted to comeback to Pakistan. He said that he has plans to bring back Pakistani economy on track, get rid of IMF debts and deal with terrorism and Taliban appropriately. In today’s situation one cannot see any other leader who can lead the country as a national leader rather than a party leader. Pervez Musharraf, in his era, proved that he had the guts to lead the country and nation with dignity and pride. He was acknowledged by many around the world on his sense of judgement, vision and his courage to deal with the most crucial matter of terrorism in the region. In his period Musharraf did not make Taliban succeed to enter in Pakistani cities and then internally the economic and social situation in Pakistan was much better than today.
Therefore, Pervez Musharraf must return to Pakistan, make his team of neutral, qualified intellectuals, technocrats and the honest & loyalist figures of Pakistan and provide relief to the nation from political criminals.
