MPs Expenses To Be Debated
MPs Expenses To Be
Debated
MPs will debate a
bill reforming how they get paid when Parliament sits
today.
The first item on the Order Paper after Question Time and the General Debate is the first reading of the Members of Parliament (Remuneration and Services) Bill.
It follows a 2010 Law Commission report and implements some of the recommendations which arose after controversy over MPs and ministerial perks.
In general it give more oversight of MP and ministerial expenses to the Remuneration Authority.
Other Government business includes the committee stage of the Student Loan Scheme Amendment Bill.
Parliament will sit from 9am to 1pm tomorrow under extended hour rules to progress treaty related legislation.
