Budget Confidence Vote Likely

Budget Confidence Vote Likely

MPs are likely to cast a confidence vote today with debate nearly completed on the second reading of the Appropriation (2012/13 Estimates) Bill.

If Parliament completes the two hours and one minute remaining in the set piece debate, MPs will vote on the Budget and an amendment in the name of David Shearer.

The amendment reads ``The amendment is as follows: That the words after “That” be omitted and the following substituted: “this House has no confidence in this National Government led by John Key because year after year it has failed to deliver the economic growth and the growth in jobs, incomes and exports it promised, which has forced record numbers of New Zealanders to look for better opportunities in Australia, has failed to take the tough decisions needed to generate the economic growth to keep young New Zealanders at home, and, as a last resort, is selling our most valuable assets against the will of New Zealanders.”

Next on the Order Paper is the first reading of the Appropriation (2011/12 Supplementary Estimates) Bill in which there is no debate and then the first reading of the Local Government Act 2002 Amendment Bill.
