Referendum And Syria

When Parliament resumed Speaker David Carter informed the House a petition seeking a referendum of the Government’s asset sales programme was deemed to have enough signatures to trigger a vote.

The petition of Ben Dowdle on behalf of Unmask Palm Oil was presented asking the House make mandatory the labelling of palm oil if used as an ingredient in any product for sale in New Zealand.

The Governments response to the Privileges Committee report on the Question of privilege concerning the defamation action Attorney-General and Gow v Leigh was tabled.

The Maori Trustees annual report was presented as was the Maori Affairs Committee report on the Māori Television Service (Te Aratuku Whakaata Irirangi Māori) Amendment Bill.

The Vulnerable Children Bill was introduced.

A motion condemning the use of poison gas in Syria and calling on the UN Security council to take action was passed on a voice vote and MPs then began Question Time
