Parliament Enters Its Final Weeks

Parliament begins its penultimate sitting week today with a number of planned extended hours sessions being used to wash up business.

After Question Time today, MPs will debate a Government notice of motion proposing Genesis Energy be considered a public organisation for parliamentary purposes.

This will be followed by completing the interrupted second reading of the Accounting Infrastructure Reform Bill, the committee stage of the Land Transport Amendment Bill (No 2) and the committee stage of the Veterans' Support Bill.

The House will sit tomorrow morning from 9am to consider the first reading of the Subordinate Legislation (Confirmation and Validation) Bill (No 3), and the second readings of the Kaikoura (Te Tai-o-Marokura) Marine Management Bill and the Parliamentary Privilege Bill,

MPs will also debate two reports from the Privileges Committee on the Question of privilege concerning the agreements for policing, execution of search warrants, and collection and retention of information by the NZSIS and the Question of privilege regarding use of intrusive powers within the parliamentary precinct.
