Dame Patsy welcomed onto Waitangi treaty grounds
Heavy rain is forecast for Waitangi as local iwi prepare to welcome Governor-General Dame Patsy Reddy to the treaty grounds at Waitangi.

Dame Patsy will be officially welcomed at 10am this morning.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and other ministers and MPs will be welcomed onto Te Whare Rūnanga marae on the treaty grounds tomorrow.
It's Ms Ardern's third day at Waitangi and RNZ Te Manu Korihi reporter Shannon Haunui-Thompson said the Prime Minister has been warmly received there so far.

hikoi from the lower marae to the treaty grounds on Waitangi

MetService said a small but intense low could bring outbreaks of heavy rain to Northland and the eastern of the Bay of Islands.
It said up to 35mm an hour could fall in some places.
