Top New Zealand freestyle skier Beau-James Wells has suffered a serious knee injury while training in Colorado.
The 23-year-old, who was New Zealand's flag bearer at the Winter Olympics in South South Korea earlier this year, ruptured knee ligaments when he fell at Copper Mountain, in Colorado.
"Definitely pretty gutted 'cause I was really looking forward to this season but I try not to get too attached especially in this sport. Summer will be sick and I do like a good rehab, it's rather satisfying," he posted on social media.

"Skiing, I'll see you in nine months."
Wells missed out on a bronze medal in the men's halfpipe at the 2018 Winter Olympics to compatriot Nico Porteous, finishing fourth in the final.
Jossi Wells, the older brother of Beau James, missed on out the Winter Olympics after he suffered a patella tendon in June last year.
