Scoop Poem: The Battle of Twickers

The Battle of Twickers

Got up in the early hours, just to watch the rugby,
It was really hard to watch, and the result was ugly,
The French were victorious in the Battle of Twickers,
Now we have to suffer the world's chuckles and twitters.

Was a great start, we looked very impressive when we did the haka,
What I want to know is where was Isotolo Maka?
My world is all confused, nothing will ever be the same,
I will throttle the next person who says it's just a game.

They ran at us from the centre and ran at us from the wing,
When they ran all over our forward pack we couldn't do a thing,
They side-stepped us with ease then they left us right behind,
When they scored that last try I really lost my mind.

A sight to always haunt me, those faces of Gallic glee,
I fled the room in anguish claiming I just had to pee,
Would be easy to blame men such as our full back,
That was the worst game he's played as an all black.

But now it's time to give credit where credit is fairly due,
The French came out on a mission and then they saw it through,
They beat us with their speed and they beat us with their passion,
Let's show some sportsmanship, or is that out of fashion?

So what do we have to do, to win back that cup?
Could the answer possibly be, to bring back Buck?
When all is said and all is done the result is that we lost
And all that's left to ask is 'God, can be beat the Boks?'
