1) UN Troops in 3 Gun Fights With Militia on Monday 19/01/2000 (Reuters) DILI, East Timor - Foreign soldiers in East Timor wounded and may have killed a pro-Indonesia militiaman after the U.N.-mandated forces were attacked, the force commander said on Tuesday.

2) Cosgrove lashes out at TNI for colluding with militia gangs 19/01/2000 (News Channel Asia) Interfet Commander Major General Peter Cosgrove lashed out at the Commander of IndonesiaÆs troops in West Timor for colluding with militia gangs.

3) Discrimination in East Timor 19/01/2000 (Green Left Weekly) While UNTAETÆs accountability only to the UN secretary-general and the Security Council does not automatically preclude it from implementing policies desired by the East Timorese people, evidence is accumulating which indicates that the UN has not been doing that.

5) Australian company starts Darwin- Dili commercial air service 19/01/2000 (Dow Jones Newswires) CANBERRA - A privately-owned Australian company, Airnorth Regional Pty Ltd., will Tuesday begin the first commercial airline service between the northern Australian city of Darwin and Dili, the capital of East Timor.

6) East Timor leader to visit Thailand 19/01/2000 (The Nation) EAST Timorese leader Xanana Gusmao will visit Thailand from Feb 3-5 as the guest of Foreign Minister Surin Pitsuwan, a ministry source said yesterday.
