NRL DROWNING: Hijinks in the Viaduct Basin lead to a tragic death for the manager of the NRL Melbourne Storm rugby team. Police say it was an avoidable death. The man apparently vaulted into the sea and bumped his head on the way down. Michael Moore was the father to three kids under the age of six. Graeme Hughs saw the accident happen and is shocked by it.

TAINUI DEBT: Asset write-down of $40 million necessary for the Tainui Iwi following failure of "high risk" investments. Sir Robert Mahuta has assumed control of the tribes finances.

HAWKESBY: John Hawkesby is entitled to $5.259 million in compensation documents released by the High Court say. The sum represents the unpaid balance of Hawkesby's six year contract. The report says Hawkesby became depressed by what was happening in the media - he was taking Prozac and another mild depressant. The PM says she has sympathy for Hawkesby and blames TVNZ. The judge has recommended Hawkesby receive $1 million up front while the appeal is heard.

WANGANUI CHILD KILLER: A Wanganui woman has been acquitted of murder of two children on grounds of insanity . The children were stabbed with scissors and had cuts to their throats. The woman said she heard a nagging male voice during pregnancy.

CREWE MURDERS: The Crewe murder mystery is to be reviewed by the police following new evidence.

BODY FOUND: The body of a Christchurch woman has been found in a Canterbury riverbed. The woman had three tattoos. She is believed to have died around midnight on Saturday. She was lightly but fully clothed and there are no signs of sexual attack. Police have been picking up video from service stations.

COASTGUARD ORDEAL: Sea ordeal for a member of Coastguard returning from a rescue mission. The coastguard member was dragged 5kms out to sea after his rescue boat was capsized on the way into shore. The pair he had rescued swam to shore but he was swept out to sea. He eventually swam to shore. Son delighted with the survival of his father and said a couple of bottles of Chivas Regal were drunk in celebration.

HILLARY CLINTON: Hillary Clinton becomes the first Presidential wife to run for political office. She says she does not expect it to be an easy campaign. In adverts she says she makes a great salad and omelet. Campaign expected to become the political equivalent of blood-sport.
