Waitara Police Shooting - Waitara Victim - Waitara Live - Queensland Cop Shooting - Ansett Pilot - Northland Plane Crash - Bee Mites - Prison Escapers - Nandor Tanczos

WAITARA SHOOTING: Residents of Waitara are shocked at the police shooting of a 23-year-old Waitara youth Stephen Wallace. The softball bat and golf-club the youth was carrying were removed from the streets. Angry woman calls police murderers. Local PM says it will take the town a long time to get over the shooting. Prime Minister says that police should shoot to wound where possible. Two investigations now underway into the incident.

WAITARA VICTIM: Wallace was a fluent Maori speaker and local of Waitara. The worst thing says uncle was that police left him in the street for 20 minutes after the shooting after he asked for help. Former teacher remembers the youth's sporting prowess and says he was a "neat kid". The shooting followed a drinking session in New Plymouth till 3am.

WAITARA LIVE: In towns like Waitara we know the stories of closures. Now the town is wondering where they are. Both the officers involved have been taken out of town.

QUEENSLAND COP SHOOTING: Three police officers have been shot in Queensland by a wanted man who is said to be obsessed with guns.

ANSETT PILOT: The Pilot of an Ansett Flight that crashed in the Tararuas in 1995 says he will fully defend his charges as he appears in court. He has been remanded on bail to reappear next month.

NORTHLAND PLANE CRASH: The pilot of a six-seater plane has died in a crash in Northland.

BEE MITES: Wild bees are now infected with the varroa Bee Mite and eradication is now thought to be the only option by bee keepers. Agriculture minister Bill Sutton says however that it would be extremely expensive. Sutton says that he thinks sabotage is the cause. Real money talk in Cabinet expected at the end of the month.

PRISON ESCAPERS: Prison escapers are now believed by police to be low on resources and have posted pictures of the pair on the Internet.

NANDOR TANCZOS: Green MP Nandor Tanczos has been banned from several Christchurch schools and accused of setting a harmful example. The MP however says the last thing he wants to do is talk about cannabis decriminalisation. Few Schools are welcoming him. Students however say they would be keen to hear from him.
