TERRALINK: There are concerns over the privatisation of another SOE Terralink, formerly part of Land Information NZ. Concerns relate to whether the SOE protected the value in its intellectual property. A Select Committee inquiry is to be held into the sale.
AIRWAYS: Airways is likely to have an inquiry from the Auditor General into its plans to invest in UK Air Traffic Control.
ST STEPHENS: There has been another assault at the troubled St Stephen’s school in Auckland.
ZIMBABWE: Don McKinnon has met with President Mugabe in Auckland and discussed election observers.
MAORI SPECTRUM: Political opposition to plans to settle 2Ghz spectrum on a Maori Trust is focussed on allegations the proposals are racist.
PETROL PRICES: Petrol companies have all increased the price of petrol by five cents. They have blamed international crude prices.
US INTEREST RATES: The US Federal Reserve has raised interest rates to 6.5%.
NZ INTEREST RATES: Mortgage holders will find out this morning if there is a raise in NZ. The base – OCR - rate is at present 6%. Most economists expect it to be raised to 6.5%.
