DEMPSEY: The Dominion leads today with a report that Charlie Dempsey was allowed to resign from the Coeania Football Confederation yesterday after his colleagues rejected his explanation for not voting for the 2006 World Cup venue as instructed.

DEMPSEY: Dempsey is pictured holding up a finger through the window of his car. An accompanying report says the South African press continued to sling mud at Charlie Dempsey yesterday, alleging he had been sympathetic to a white apartheid-era football body.

- HASTINGS HAT TRICK: a report that a Hastings police constable scored a hat trick early yesterday morning – three drunk and disqualified drivers driving one car;
