DR BOTTRILL APPEARS AT CANCER INQUIRY: Dr Bottrill blames the after affects of a heart bypass operation in 1990 for the under-reporting of cervical smears. Distinct blueness to Dr’s face as side-effect of pills he is taking. Asked if he accepted that he was to blame for misread smears, he replied, “regretfully yes”. He said he had been devastated at the discoveries over the last few days. He says he was left with attention deficit or a lack of concentration after the bypass operation. He says that when he found he had made the mistake it was a very distressing circumstance. Why hadn’t he given up? “I liked cytology”.

An opposing team member says the try wouldn’t have been scored anyway. After the tackle the crowd turned on the spectator and beat him. The Spectator had previously played for both teams but was banned last year.
