TAFFY HOTENE: The father of Kylie Jones is demanding to know why Taffy Hotene was let out of jail early to kill his daughter. Yesterday Hotene pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of Jones. Mr Jones Kylie’s father says a life sentence is a joke. A Taumaranui cop who arrested him said Hotene told him any woman in a skirt deserved what they got. The matter was raised in Parliament. Hotene will be sentenced next month.

GANG WAR FEARS: Police fear a fatal shooting in Christchurch may be the beginning of a gang war.

POLICEMAN SHOT IN ACCIDENT: Police chiefs want to know why live ammunition was used by a trainee by accident and a Police Sergeant was shot in the stomach. The officer is expected to be out.

DOVER SAMUELS: No way back to Cabinet for Dover Samuels says the PM. “No MP has the right to be a minister“. Dover Samuels says that he was asked to pay by the mother of the woman he had a relationship with. Samuels also believes Tregerthan told someone he was going after a “fat Maori in the Beehive” and that the woman would not have brought the matter up on her own.

JACKIE SAMUELS: Samuel’s wife Jackie says she feels a huge sense of relief in the wake of the police deciding to stop two of three investigations. Voters in the street think that Samuels should get his job back. Jackie says she doesn’t think her husband will get his job back. A hui may be held in Northland to decide whether to send a delegation to the Beehive to ask the PM to give Dover his job back.
