TARIANA TURIA: The PM has told Tariana Turia that she must never again use the world holocaust when talking about Maori history. She wants Mrs Turia to focus on the here and now.

PM TO NY: Tonight the PM will head off to New York to the State Of The World Forum and the Millennium Summit at the United Nations. She will also attend a dinner with US President Bill Clinton.

PLANE SAFETY: Civil Aviation says the discovery of a problem with Metro-liner aircraft fuel systems shows the maintenance supervision system works.

FIJI: Fiji Coup leader George Speight may today have treason charges against him dropped. Prosecutors say an immunity decree is invalid because it was signed under duress, and Speight and his supporters did not hand over their guns.

CHILD SAFETY: Concern about the death of a Carterton toddler led to a rally of over 500 people in Masterton yesterday.

ACC CHILD REFERRALS: CYFS says it was already aware of one in five of 236 case referrals from ACC. The referrals concerned children who had had more than 10 claims in their first five years.

COMPENSATION: The lawyer for a man who got more than $500,000 compensation for being wrongfully jailed says his client is pleased with the award. The man received 14 months in jail for a wrongful conviction for child abuse.

SOLOMON ISLANDS: A rugby match between the crew of the NZ Frigate Te Kaha and Solomon Islands has had to be abandoned after militants started shooting into the air.

KOSOVO: UN police in Kosovo have brought in tracker dogs to track down 13 escaped war criminals.

UK IMMIGRATION: Immigration controls are about to be relaxed in Great Britain to allow up to 100,000 foreign workers in a year. Unemployment is at a 20 year low.
