EAST TIMOR: Some NZ troops may be needed for a fourth mission to East Timor meaning that some troops will have to go back. Foreign Minister Phil Goff says it would be nice if some other country would contribute more troops.
DOVER SAMUELS: Dover Samuels electorate chairman says that his clearance by the police means that he can now concentrate on being an MP. He says it is a burden off Mr Samuels shoulders.
CONCORDE: French air accident inspectors now think that the 43cm strip of metal found on the runway that caused the Concorde crash may have come from a Continental DC10 that took off just before Concorde.
AUS PLANE CRASH: The Australian maritime safety authority says the number of people who died in a crash in the outback had eight people on board.
PETROL PRICES: The deputy PM says a petrol benchmark pricing system has been proved to work in Australia and would also work here. Shell oil has rejected the benchmarking idea.
POWER PROBLEMS: The Minister of Energy Pete Hodgson says the government is looking at contingency plans to avoid a power shortage in Auckland this summer.
WINTER ILLS: An Auckland hospital has postponed elective surgery in order to provide beds to ill North Auckland residents with winter ailments.
TARIANA TURIA: The Associate Maori Affairs Minister Tariana Turia is expected to apologise in Parliament this afternoon for a speech she made last week.
ARTS FUNDING: Arts groups say extra funding from Creative New Zealand will make arts performances more accessible to NZers.
PACIFIC CRIME: South Pacific Forum countries are cracking down on crime. Professor crime says that an increase in crime in the Pacific is clear. The area is also being used as a transit point by organised crime.
