YUGOSLAVIAN ELECTIONS: The polls have closed in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in Presidential elections. Serbian officials are accusing Nato forces of blackmailing voters.
OLYMPIC RAIN: A sudden downpour in Sydney late yesterday washed away chances of new records in track and field events. Meanwhile part of the roof blew off.
MEDAL TABLE: Australia has slipped to 6th on the medal table when rated by medal value, and third on the basis of total medal numbers.
MUSSEL SPAT: Mussel farmers have asked the Ministry of Fisheries to open new spat collection sites.
CANCER INFORMATION: The cervical cancer inquiry wants a definite yes or no from the Ministry of Health on the supply of information concerning cancer so it can make a decision about taking High Court action.
INDIAN FLOODS: Mobs have been looting shops in Eastern India as floods rise.
ERA: An interim good faith bargaining code has been criticised as meaningless by ACT leader Richard Prebble. Margaret Wilson says the code is a robust and useful document.
ERA: Meanwhile lawyers expect the new ERA will create lots of work for a new employment mediation service, provided for under the act.
QUAKE: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale centred south of Waiouru struck at around 3.30am. The quake was felt in Wellington.
FIRE: Firefighters may have to monitor the site of a large scrub-fire near Taupo for a week.
