YUGOSLAVIA: Hundreds of thousands of protestors have taken control of central Belgrade. They want President Slobodan Milosevic to step down. A popular uprising. Black smoke has been pouring out of the Parliament building. State run TV is also on fire. The chief opposition leader has told the crowd they have liberated Serbia. He has told his crowd not to go to the residence of Milosevic. A former general who supports the opposition is reported to have gone to meet the Yugoslavian army.

ISRAEL: US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright says there have been too many funerals and too many lives destroyed in recent conflicts in Israel and that a peaceful resolution must be found.

NZBR YOUTH CAMPAIGN: A young man who is running a campaign against the Government says he has given back donated by the NZ Business Roundtable.

NORTHLAND RESCUE HELICOPTER: Northland health professionals are standing by their local rescue helicopter. The helicopter has lost a contract for accident services to an Auckland helicopter.

GONEBURGER LIST: A union representing workers on a “hit-list” of meat-workers is planning on suing the SOE. The Minister of SOEs has asked for a report/

ASEAN FREE TRADE: Officials in ASEAN have recommended asking Australia and NZ to join the ASEAN free trade area.

CHILD DEATH: A 30-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with assault of a boy who has been found dead in Otara.

AUCKLAND FERRIES: A report on ferries in Auckland has recommended making them more attractive and investigating more routes. At present more people commute by ferry than by train in Auckland.

KOKAKO: DOC says it may still be possible to save the South Island Kokako even if only males can be found.

YUGOSLAVIA: News just in. The state news agency Tanjug has just called Mr Kostunica the “Elected President of Yugoslavia”. The whereabouts of Slobodan Milosevic are not known.
