Treaty Clause – Florida Recount – Painted Lady – Senior Moments – Christmas Party

- TREATY CLAUSE: The advice from a Government dominated select committee to water down a Treaty of Waitangi provision in the Public Health and Disability Bill to remove any suggestion it could lead to racial preferment has been hailed by Maori Labour backbencher John Tamihere.

- FLORIDA RECOUNT: Al Gore last night was considering a proposal to end the stalemate over Florida’s vote count, the Los Angeles Times said. The proposal called for George W. Bush to agree to a manual recount throughout the state and for Mr Gore to renounce any further lawsuits.

- PAINTED LADY: They all cheered when Aron Anderson was introduced in the Best Dressed Lady competition at the New Zealand trotting Cup meeting at Addington yesterday, and booed when she was eliminated. Tall, slim, 31-year-old Ms Anderson was wearing only paint from the waist up.

- SENIOR MOMENTS: The American Psychological Association has named the condition where words are on the tip of the tongue but won’t come as “senior moments,” in homage to those who supposedly suffer the most.

- CHRISTMAS PARTY: Vodafone’s Christmas party, which has copped flak for featuring topless Thai strippers, is now facing accusations of ill treatment of animals and breaking bylaws over having an elephant and a monkey at the crowded function.
