TELECOM CELLPHONE OUTAGE: Telecom’s Cellular phone system broke down on the day Ericcson announced a new major deal with Telecom and introduced new Ericcson software to the network. Courier companies and journalists were severely disrupted. A spokeswoman said the partnership between Ericcsson and Telecom was longstanding. Telecom says it hasn’t started thinking about compensation and sorry.

TEINA STACE CRASH: Teina Stace, the girlfriend of All Black Jonah Lomu has had a miracle escape alive from an car accident in Wellington when she went 20m down a steep bank in the All Black’s sponsored Ford Falcon. She was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

FREIGHT TRAINS COLLIDE: Freight trains collide in Christchurch leaving engines all over the track. Two drivers and a shunter were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Investigators have been interviewing staff this morning. Tranz Rail’s safety record has been under scrutiny for some time following a fatal accident in Southland. Five railway workers have been killed recently.

OIL TANKER EXPLODES: An horrific crash has killed three people north of Sydney when an oil tanker exploded and burned.

CYCLONE WARNING: Residents in Western Australia are preparing for a Category 5 Cyclone expected to strike as early as tomorrow.

PETER ELLIS ON FRIEND’S DEATH: Christchurch Civic Creche. Peter Ellis is saddened by the death of Jan Buckingham at the age of 52. Ellis says it is tragic that she died before Justice Eichlebaum has completed his inquiry into the case, and thinks it was the allegations of child abuse made by police that killed her . Ellis expects to be vindicated.

LONDON STABBING FUNERAL: Hundreds have attended funeral service for a young Nigerian boy killed in a stabbing in London. His brother spoke of “Danny’s” death, “I am deeply sorry for not being there for you.”, he said. The Home Office Minister asked for witnesses to the killing to speak. The boy attended church three days a week.

HIT HIP-HOP ALBUM CENSORED: Under 18-year-olds have been banned from buying M&M’s hit album saying that young people may not understand the irony and black humour in the lyrics. There is a fear that this means it will make young people buy it. The Album has already sold 14 million copies and it is available on the internet.
