Hobbs And Bunkle Resign – Iraq Hostilities – Airways Bid – Marie Jamieson Investigation – Salt Marsh Mosquito

- HOBBS AND BUNKLE RESIGN: Phillida Bunkle and Marion Hobbs, the two ministers at the centre of investigations into ministerial allowances, have resigned their ministerial portfolios. The Prime Minister said they offered their resignations, feeling that the sustained pressure over the ministerial allowances affair made it impossible to do their jobs.

- IRAQ HOSTILITIES: US warplanes have made another attack on military targets in Iraq. US command said they responded to anti aircraft fire.

- AIRWAYS BID: SOE minister Mark Burton says he’s satisfied that Airways has not been neglecting its core function of running the air traffic control system in New Zealand while it has been bidding for business overseas. Airways failed in its joint bid with US firm Lockheed Martin for the $70m contract to run Britain’s air traffic control system.

- MARIE JAMIESON INVESTIGATION: Police investigating the killing of Marie Jamieson hope to jog the memories of regular bus travellers. Police are trying to retrace Ms Jamieson’s steps, including travelling her bus route and talking to bus regulars.

- SALT MARSH MOSQUITO: The Australian Salt marsh mosquito, which is being blitzed by a MAF campaign in the Hawke’s Bay, has now been discovered north of Auckland.
